Auto-Sleeper Wave
The highlight of the Cotswold-based
manufacturer’s 2015 range is its all-new
Mercedes-based Wave – an executive
multi-purpose vehicle.
Available as both a high-top (the Wave
HL) and a rising roof (the Wave), this new
two-model range combines the luxury of
an executive car with the practicality of a
weekend leisure vehicle.
The executive feel of the Wave can’t
be overemphasised – over the last
half-a-century, Auto-Sleepers has built
a reputation for producing top-end
motorhomes. And it has been basing
a choice of these top-end coachbuilt
motorhomes on Mercedes-Benz base
vehicles. So, using that skill to create a
high-quality campervan on an executive
Mercedes Vito makes perfect sense.
The Vito is a similar size to the VW
Transporter, but the Wave’s layout is
completely different. For a start it comes
with four independent travel seats (rather
than a rear bench rock ‘n’ roll seat), which
mean it really can be used as a daily
executive car.
Of the two models, the HL is the more
accomplished as a true campervan,
while the rising roof Wave is more suited
to those looking for a luxury weekend
getaway vehicle that can double up as a
runabout during the week.
Whichever model you opt for, you are
guaranteed a high specification level as
standard, like the well-equipped kitchen
that has a 35-litre fridge and two-burner
hob with separate grill.
Then there’s the cab and drive. Opt for
the £3,000 Premium Pack and you get
cab air-conditioning and an automatic
gearbox to complement what is already a
very comfortable and well-appointed cab.
