The main news from Adria is the complete
revision of the Matrix low-profile and
Sonic A-class ranges. To mark 50 years of
production, Adria is planning a number of
‘Golden Anniversary’ editions that will have
an impressive list of previously optional
extras fitted as standard.
It has also simplified and consolidated
its portfolio of models and reduced prices
across the board. Gone are the myriad
optional packs and trim options are down to
just two.
Price reductions, some models
by as much as 10%, allow Adria
to say its range starts from a very
affordable £39,990 (Twin 600 SP).
Everything but the Matrix
Supreme is based on the newly
facelifted 130bhp Fiat Ducato. The
Matrix Supreme will be built using the
new Renault Master chassis, which still
has a 2.3-litre engine but offers 150bhp as
standard. The Renault version can also be
bought with a 3,800kg chassis.
The main physical change for 2015
models is the adoption of a wider 600mm
habitation door. The Matrix shape has been
completely redrawn with the front overcab
bulge lowered by 20mm and the rear
habitation roofline raised by
60mm to give a much sleeker
looking vehicle.
All rear travel seats now come
with head restraints as standard and
Isofix child seat anchors as an option, while
overhead panoramic rooflights are fitted as
standard to all but Axess spec ’vans. There
are three spec levels starting at the top with
the Supreme, then down through Plus to the
entry Axess specification.
Adria’s Twin, based on the Fiat Ducato, is
redesigned for 2015 and is available as the
600 (5.99m) or the 640 (6.36m).
Adria also likes to shout about its
‘Designed for Great Britain. Built by Adria’
slogan. UK vehicles are imported through
a sole UK concessionaire and each model
offered has either been tweaked or built
specifically for the UK market, offering
facilities like full ovens not found in the same
models elsewhere.
Respected British motorhome and
campervan manufacturer, Auto-Sleepers,
has had a busy year preparing for the new
2015 season.
The major news is the arrival of the all-
new Wave – a day van built on the desirable
Mercedes-Benz Vito.
The Cotswold-based manufacturer has
created two versions of this new executive
multi-purpose vehicle – a high-top (the Wave
HL) and a rising roof (the Wave LL).
Aimed at those looking for a vehicle that
can be used as a daily executive runaround
as well as a weekend leisure vehicle, the
Wave is essentially a two-berth model,
although it can be a 2+2, with
four travel seats.
The Wave enters
a category of
campervans
dominated by VW
T5s, but Auto-
Sleepers hopes that
the combination of its
well-respected brand and the prestige of the
three-pointed star, matched to a design that
eschews the traditional side kitchen layout,
will win it a good following.
Key amongst the Wave’s features are twin
sliding doors that give easy access to some
of the most comfortable rear travel seats
seen in a campervan. Then there’s the high
spec, the Vito’s torque converter automatic
gearbox and the choice of an elevating roof
version (the Wave LL) or the high-roofed HL
with extra storage, better headroom and a
coachbuilt-aping overcab sunroof.
