Ideally, their focus on the UK will be to tackle the cost-of-living crisis as well as materials and energy, spike in COVID-19 cases and the levelling up agenda. On page 10, we spoke to two FIS members, Neil Shaw, Country Manager at Etex and Ian Stokes, Managing Director at Knauf UK about the UK multi-million- pound investments. Including their views on what this means to the sector, local community and the environment. The Building Safety Act has now taken effect, introducing the most significant changes to building safety regulation in a generation. Barrister, Professor Rudi Klein, on page 16 considers the implications for FIS members of the new statutory limitation periods under the Act. Continuing on from the ‘If you don’t know the fire safety facts – seek advice’ feature in the July issue of SpecFinish, we spoke to FIS member, Carrie Blackshaw, Fire Protection Sales Director at Minster. She comments about passive fire protection and the need to make sure that building services penetrations are identified and protected from fire. Read more on page 20. Well, it’s certainly true that time does fly when you’re having fun and here we are with my first issue of SpecFinish. What an amazing couple of months it’s been working with the team at Warners Group Publications and in particular, Nicky Rogers, previous Editor of SpecFinish. The highlights were learning about and being introduced to so many inspiring and influential individuals within the sector. I’m looking forward to working with you all. Please let us know about your projects and company news as we do like to feature members as much as we can.
