Undoubtedly some of my comments would have focused on how Liz Truss intends to lead the government to tackle amongst other things the looming recession, the energy crisis, and UK’s overall contribution to climate change. However, I find that the global news and my thoughts are now dominated by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. While the Monarchy can be a divisive subject, many people will be mourning the loss of someone who has always been present in their lives. I believe we have a lot to admire about Queen Elizabeth II reign for the past 70 years. “May her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace” Queen Elizabeth II 21 April 1926 - 8 September 2022 On page 14 of this issue, we discuss that the recruitment of a skilled workforce remains an important topic. We spoke to Corey Parker, who began his career as an apprentice dryliner with Taylor Hart, and Matthew Jolly, who is studying a T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning and has a work placement at MAC-Group, about their different journeys into the sector. We asked two of our members to tell us about how their technology is assisting the sector. Read more on page 20.
