SIMPLY BREATHTAKING The FIS Contractors Awards are held each year to promote and encourage exemplary levels of craftmanship in the finishes and interiors sector. T he FIS 2022 Contractors Awards lunch, was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, in June. Independent awards judges, Tony Pieri and Clive Perry, who visited all projects entered said: “We don’t just judge these projects on their overall finished appearance. Other factors including sustainability, design input, problem-solving, logistics, value added initiatives and integration, are all factored into our assessment of the work involved. Members have excelled themselves and remain a real credit to FIS and to themselves.” The Project of the Year award was judged by architect Robert Fry, International and Executive Director of Aukett Swanke Group plc. He said: “The very high quality of the award category winners made the selection of a single project for the ‘Best of the Best’ award a very challenging proposition; given the excellence demonstrated by so many varied trades and skillsets brought to bear for clients in such a collaborative endeavour.” Interior Fit Out – company turnover over £5m AQ Construction Services for the American Express Centurion Lounge Heathrow, London (Architect: Perkins + Will) Judges’ comments: Abespoke interior fit-out befitting the ethos of theAmerican Express brand. AQ’s contribution to the design, performance and ultimate appearance of this installation is immense. Partitioning – company turnover over £5m Bespoke Construction Services for DSVMercia, Derbyshire Judges’ comments: The project provides an impressive visual finish whilst performing to the required acoustic specification. Interior Fit Out – company turnover under £5m iBuild Interior Services for Westminster University, London Judges’ comments: Thefinished interior is simply spectacular; creating a cacophony of colour, light, textures and shapes all blending to produce an extraordinary space for students and staff. Partitioning – company turnover under £5m Indeglas for Do & Co, London (Architect: Chapman Taylor) Judges’ comments: Indeglas designed, engineered and installedfire rated, acoustic atriumsingle- and double- glazed screens and sliding folding glazed screen systems, creating an impressive result. Ceilings – company turnover over £5m Simplicity Specialist Finishes for 100 Liverpool Street, London Judges’ comments: The project involved the creation of individually large bespoke curved and shaped ceiling panels manufactured in glass reinforced concrete. The final result is spectacular. Ceilings – company turnover under £5m New Forest Ceilings for Exton Vineyard, Hampshire (Architect: Luke Rose Architect) Judges’ comments: New Forest Ceilings designed and installed this spectacular timber veneered plaster strip ceiling to follow the complex multi angled roof construction.
