Optima’s Reuse Service comes into its own at Mazars Building a sustainable office space was crucial for this leading international audit, tax, and advisory firm. They wanted to create a space that had as little impact on the environment as possible, whilst still delivering a high-performing workspace. With this inmind, Mazars chose to take advantage of Optima’s Reuse Service. This initiative supports clients whilst giving Optima full control over the lifecycle of its products. This inspiring project consisted of a combination of both new and reused glass partitioning systems. Optima was able to take Revolution 100 glazed partitions and Edge Symmetry doors from a previous project in the building. By reusing 60%of the existing products acrossMazars’ new office, they were seamlessly reintroduced back into the supply chain whilst meeting their bespoke design needs. Reusing both of these outstanding acoustically rated products also ensured that Optima was able tomaintain acoustic performance throughout the design. Themodular nature of Optima’s systems meant they could quickly and easily relocate its products fromproject to project. 92% of the waste from this site was recycled using the innovative Recycling Bag that was brought to site with all deliveries. All protection and packaging used during the fit-out were bagged and taken back to Optima’s manufacturing facility where it was reused or separated for the appropriate recycling. Building Information Modelling capabilities played a huge role in this project. As a result, the project exceeded expectations in the delivery of creative and sustainable solutions. www.optimasystems.com Innovations Ours is a fast-paced industry, matched only by the lightning speed of innovation in its products and ways of designing and installing them. Here are some of the latest developments for our sector and it’s encouraging to see this level of development in what is still a challenging time for construction. INNOVATIONS 30 www.thefis.org Make your mark with Sonify by Zentia, a new innovative customisable acoustic ceiling solution Sonify is a pioneering discontinuous acoustic ceiling solution that allows architects to unleash their creativity on every project. Utilising the latest technology, Sonify adopts a ground-breaking digital first approach to designing a ceiling system. Sonify 3D Studio is an online parametric configurator that allows each design to be visualised and exported as a Revit file to support digital workflows and The Golden Thread. Zentia looked at the current issues in the industry surrounding the specification, distribution and installation of highly customisable discontinuous ceiling solutions and developed this to overcome them. Sonify utilises a range of pre-engineered panel shapes and sizes, combinedwith awide range of standard colours to provide a hybrid approach to ceiling installation and suspension, including height adjustment options. It offers a range of suspension solutions that includes a patented grid systemthat delivers unrivalled accuracy, speed and stabilitywith regard to installation. There is also the option to add colour to the grid and turn it into a design feature in its own right. It is designed to bring distinction to a wide range of new-build and refurbishment projects, from statement ceilings in hotels, airports, retail outlets and offices, to providing aesthetic ways to absorb sound in schools and hospitals. www.zentia.com/sonify Maxi-Tec profile offers a sustainable alternative to a traditional solution With the continued emphasis on the use of sustainable materials in all aspects of construction, and the need to offset the carbon footprint throughout the life of projects, responsible contractors are looking to their supply chain to support their own aims in achieving this. With the development of a lightweight steel profile, recognisable in both its application and its fitting, as well as bringing with it the opportunity to help support the twin goals of sustainability and reduction of CO 2 , PROTEKTOR UK’s newMaxi-Tec profile offers a sustainable alternative to a traditional solution, with a profile fitted in exactly the same way as the products it replaces, while giving real benefits in it use to interior fitters and subsequent utility fix contractors due to its unique design. Maxi-Tec is unique in that it offers a sustainable solution for what has been a very traditional product. In its manufacture, for every 100 tonnes of metal produced, there is a saving of 36 tonnes of CO 2 , over the standard stud profile. Following a full lifecycle assessment, the profile has been awarded product- specific EPD and BRE Certificate. Maxi-Tec has already been specified on a number of projects, and was recognised in its first year of UK manufacture by its inclusion as a finalist in the ‘Product Innovation of the Year’ at the London Build Expo in November 2019. www.protektor.co.uk REUSE INSTALL USE OPTIMA REUSE SERVICE
