Spec Finish Awards 2021

5 PROJECT OF THE YEAR BW Shrimpton The Crescent Hotel and Spa, Buxton Buxton Crescent was built in the 1780s, but the Grade 1 listed building fell into disrepair and in 2003work began to convert it into a hotel and tourist attraction. Darren said “This project impressed us all with its scale – a programme spanning two and a half years, a company contracted to deliver exceptional work across multiple disciplines, and a scope that continually grew in response to complex issues as they were discovered on site. “At the core of this project though is a unique story of excellence, of perseverance and dedication, with skilled tradespeople working within a Grade 1 listed building. Above all, and of increasing importance to us all, this was a beautiful project that reinforced the importance of sustainable design in the construction industry.” See page 6 for more details Darren Ross-Dreher, Technical Director at Gensler, an integrated architecture, design, planning and consulting firm, was the guest judge for the 2021 FIS Contractors Awards, selecting the overall Project of the Year from the Gold award winning contracts across all categories.
