32 Langley ParkHouse is a Grade II Palladianmansion built in 1760 as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Marlborough, with extensive grounds landscaped by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. The internal plasterwork had suffered fromwater ingress, rot and some less than sympathetic alterations, and a new owner wanted to convert themansion into a luxury hotel while retaining as much of the original fabric as possible. George Jackson, appointed before construction commenced, identified and removed areas of plaster to allow structural repairs. Impressions were taken of decorative features to be replicated and brought to George Jackson’s workshop, wheremodels andmoulds of themissing cornices, architraves, pediments and ornaments weremanufactured tomatch the existing. George Jackson also provided the GRG in the subterranean Langley Spa, including large barrel vaults above the swimming pool and a combination of cross-barrel vaults with plainmodillion block cornice and lighting troughs in other areas.
