Spec Finish Awards 2021

30 Hufcor was contracted to supply and install a movable wall in the conference centre’s 4,000m 2 main hall, which could divide the space into at least six areas. The installation uses the Hufcor type 11 steel track with track diverts and electric diverts, which allows the walls to be set up in many different configurations and ensures the panels stack correctly. A challenging installation was made even moreso by panels 9m tall and weighing up to 750kg each, and 11 operable walls between 4m and 5.6m tall. Given their size and weight, the panels have been fitted with extended bottom seals that operate via a gas strut mechanism ensuring a positive seal against the floor and resisting potential crowd pressures. The passdoors are extra wide to accommodate the fire egress requirements and are fitted with emergency locks that enable the doors to be opened even when locked in an emergency.
