Spec Finish Awards 2021

3 “For obvious reasons, the past 18months or so have been increasingly challenging and uncertain for us all. Typically, however, FIS’s contractor members, many of whom have not submitted award entries, continue to produce excellent work against the familiar pressure of ever- increasing tight budgets and challenging time constraints. This really characterises the spirit of contractor members, who consistently show their resolve to do a top-class job well, on time and within budget. That spirit, as ever, has been typified by the quality of the projects we have judged. The quality of all the entries we have seen has been excellent, making our task of selecting overall winners in the various categories very difficult. The differences in quality areminimal – decimal points separate those who have and have not won an award. It has been encouraging to see a healthy number of new contractors submitting projects for consideration this year along with our ‘regulars’, but it would be even better if we saw a fewmore submitting entries. So, if you’ve completed a project or are working on one that you feel has something special about it, why not enter? It could win you an award. Finally, it has been a real pleasure for us to witness such outstanding and varied work again this year, so thank you to everyone for the courtesy and valuable time you have generously extended to us on our visits.” TONY PIERI AND CLIVE PERRY JUDGES’ COMMENTS
