25 Veitchi was responsible for erecting a Veitchi Frame structure for thismixed-use development over four floors. The sitewas a tight triangular area – on one side a three-way junction on one of Edinburgh’smain feeder roads, on the other sides a narrowone-way street and theWater of Leith. The elevation over the river was built up to the existing retaining wall line. This required the external access scaffold to be cantilevered over the river and the Veitchi Frame to be engineered to accommodate the uplift forces from the scaffold. During construction of the elevation, Veitchi used its own edge protection system, which allowed it to proceed without using external access scaffold. The floor area, in excess of 1,150m 2 , formed six apartments and three townhouses and the structure was completed in 10weeks, three weeks ahead of programme. But virtually all components were manufactured and assembled off-site and then delivered in sequence for installation.
