Spec Finish Awards 2021

22 Fromthe smallest of historical images, Fine Art Mouldings was taskedwith creating a bespoke plaster-modelled bas-relief –where the design is slightly raised above the flattened surface to create a subtle 3D effect. The bas-relief reveals the story of the Duke of Wellington courting his lady under the third oldest oak tree in the UK – the tree fell several years ago but its wood was used for all the joinery in the Cigar Bar. Large plaster panels depicting the scene were seamlessly joined and attached to the walls to illustrate and repeat the story throughout the interior space. The project also included the creation of large art deco fluted columns to create a picturesque fireplace and bespoke art deco archways to complement the room. A light trough was used to produce ambient lighting.
