After leaving school he moved into engineering, but kept up art as a hobby and began to teach classes in botanical art to adults at Derby WEA. Since then he has exhibited widely. He has a purpose-built studio next to his home, where he teaches and gives demonstrations throughout the year. Glyn Macey was born in Newlyn, Cornwall and completed his HND in Graphic Design at Falmouth School of Art. He worked as a successful designer until 1998 when he retired to devote his time solely to painting. Glyn's paintings can be seen in many collections world-wide and his design work is found in many major high street retailers. Using acrylic, mixed media and an array of mark- making techniques he aims to capture the underlying essence of the landscape, and the people who live in it.
