Stage 4 1 Colour: Dull green (a pale mix of olive green and burnt umber) Brush: No. 12 Round brush Notes: Remove all the masking fluid with clean fingers. Now paint the left- hand trees, the lit parts of the larger trees and the fence posts, signpost and stile. 2 Colour: Dark, shadowy green (a dark mix of olive green and burnt umber) Brush: No. 8 Round brush Notes: Add shade to the right-hand sides of the trees, and then add more branches. Add shadows across the main tree trunks in the same way. Add shade to the fence posts, signpost and stile with the same mix. 3 Colour: Green gold Brush: No. 8 Round brush Notes : Paint a wash over the grasses that were masked, on both sides of the path. 4 Colour: Hooker’s green Brush: No. 8 Round brush Notes: Paint dark shadows coming from the trees on the left, and to darken the bottom left-hand corner. 5 Colour: Hooker’s green Brush: 13mm (½in) Round bristle brush Notes: Re-establish texture in the area of the bluebells with stippling. 6 Colour: Dark, shadowy green (a dark mix of olive green and burnt umber) Brush: No. 8 Round brush Notes: Extend and darken the tree shadows. 7 Colour: Olive green, Hooker’s green Brush: 2.5cm (1in) wash brush Notes: Stipple more texture in the trees with olive green, then Hooker’s green. 8 Colour: Burnt umber Brush: No. 6 Rigger Notes: Paint the fence wires.
