I decided not to give too much attention to it. Use a green mix of indigo and green gold and a grey mix using moonglow, sometimes adding in a touch of indigo for variety. Step 6 1 Paint the stem using a green mix of indigo and green gold toned down with a little violet. Add a little water to the mix to vary the intensity of the colour on the bud stalk. With a soft, light green mix and shadow violet, use brushstrokes in the direction of the petal’s growth to describe its form and gentle folds. 2 Lightly sketch in the top of the jug so that the rest of the stems will sit in the right place. Draw in the right-hand stem, flower and buds. 2 Continue to paint the rest of the flower in the same way, using a light green mix and shadow violet. Leave the very edges of some of the petals unpainted, to give the suggestion of light touching them. The buds are a really vivid green, so use a mix of new gamboge and ultramarine turquoise to paint them in, using darker tones to suggest the shape and texture.
