Solar PV was already installed a few years and having already started our renewables journey, an air source heat pump was the next natural progression. Mr Stratton’s main reason for choosing an air to water heat pump was to help get rid of any reliance on fossil fuels. He had a desire to learn about the technologies, how they work, why we have them and if he could have one retrofitted into his property. He says “We have to listen to the experts in the industry who are driving this change for good.” Mr Stratton also harvests his own water through the 3000l storage tank he has in his garden and also has an electric vehicle which he says, “He will never look back on.” What is the R32 Split Altherma heat pump? The Daikin Altherma R32 Split system is a single fan next generation heat pump which consists of 2 x components. A condenser unit (outdoor unit) and a hydrobox (indoor unit). The benefit is that it runs smaller external pipes & can be sited 30m away. The R32 Split has an A+++ space heating energy label, up to A+ domestic hot water energy label & it operates down to -25°C outside temperature with a leaving water temperature of 60°C at -7°C System experience? The system o ers hot water & heating through radiators throughout his property. Nothing had changed from when he had his old combi boiler system. “I just leave it alone” he stated. The R32 split air source heat pump o ers a WIFI connection and can be monitored from wherever he is in the world. Installation experience? The UKHeatPumps Installation team were polite, well-mannered and extremely hard working. They worked well to make sure the project was completed on time and to a high standard. There were no disruptions throughout the installation process. The engineers were very clean and tidy, all rubbish was taken away with them when left. Concerns you had before and do not have now? There were no concerns, as this technology is tried and tested and has been around for years. Noise levels of the unit are low and only really comes on in the heart of winter on those cold dark nights. Mr Stratton also said “He does encourage customers to come to the showroom and hear the unit running and meet the team”
