By setting up an account early with scheme administrators Ofgem, installers will be ready to benefit by helping deliver up to 30,000 installations in the first year. Philippa Pickford, Director of Delivery and Schemes at Ofgem, said: “We are delighted to be working with BEIS in administering the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) on behalf of government. Continuing to decarbonise heat is central to the delivery of Ofgem’s decarbonisation action plan.” The aim of the scheme is to provide support to property owners, to help meet some of the costs of installation. However, social housing will not be eligible for support, and neither are new buildings, which are covered by existing legislation, except for self-built domestic properties.
