The enhanced safety of the environmentally sustainable Tubolit Split and DuoSplit products makes them ideal for use as part of the external air source heat pump systems that the government is encouraging in its drive to achieve carbon neutrality. Armacell o ers one of the largest portfolios of HVAC-R and industrial insulation products. Established in 1966 as Armstrong Cork and renamed in 2000, the company has supplied some of the UK’s biggest and best-known technical insulation projects for over 50 years. With improved performance, the detection of small leaks is now significantly easier. The new StrixTM sensor and hand probe connect to the INFICON Sentrac Hydrogen Leak Detector, making it the Sentrac Strix Edition. Designed for use with hydrogen tracer gas, the instrument enables easy leak detection in applications where the acceptable leakage rate is measured, for example, by the refrigeration industry in grams per year. The new sensor helps detect any presence of gas quickly. With significantly improved response and recovery times, it enables the operator to pinpoint leaks even in demanding environments. As well as helping operators find very small leaks e ciently, the sensor will also assist users to locate leaks of widely varying sizes, from the extremely small to the very large. The dynamic operating range covers 10 decades of leak sizes. www.inficon.com Stiebel Eltron launches new WPE-I ground source heat pump range Stiebel Eltron has launched its new high-e ciency WPE-I ground source heat pump in the UK as the business continues to diversify its renewable o ering to meet increased demand. The technology is designed for use across residential and commercial schemes with small units that are built not only to save space but also simplify the installation process for both new-build and retrofit projects. These innovations also ensure high flow rates without the assistance of a booster heater and a strong seasonal coe cient of performance (SCOP) – which means a better return from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for owners. The WPE-I uses Stiebel Eltron’s new R454C refrigerant which improves e ciency by up to 15 per cent. It also futureproofs the range by improving safety in every domestic setting and enables installation and maintenance to be carried out quickly and easily due to improved integration with the product. Improved e ciency also lowers its impact on the environment by up to 14 per cent compared to previous refrigerants on the market when measured by global warming potential (GWP). www.stiebel-eltron.co.uk/en/home.html
