Our super fundraisers have run, walked, cycled and tirelessly fundraised an incredible £45,000 so far this year between them. This is incredible and we know the whole community will want to join us in saying a huge thank you. Because of you we can continue supporting, campaigning and raising awareness for people who need to live gluten free. Do you fancy a challenge? Would you like to support Team Coeliac UK? We are here to support your fundraising efforts – we couldn’t provide our services without you! Coeliac disease parliamentary group launched in Westminster We are delighted to announce the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on coeliac disease in Westminster. Chaired by Sharron Hodgson MP, the group will bring together politicians from across the political spectrum to investigate, discuss and drive policy change around coeliac disease. An initial meeting was held on 26 October 2022 to set up the group and elect various office holders; this follows on from our parliamentary engagement work over the last two years and the launch of our diagnosis ‘Call to Action’ in Westminster, in June. Coeliac UK will be taking on the role of Secretariat, supporting the group to set the agenda and provide crucial evidence to support its work. The APPG will be pursuing an inquiry into the condition, calling on expert witnesses on a range of challenges facing the community. As with our Cross Party Group in the Welsh Parliament/Senedd Cymru we believe this will provide the charity with a crucial vehicle to help develop policy solutions and better hold the UK Government to account. We continue to work with our parliamentary partners in Scotland and Northern Ireland to support the establishment of similar groups in the respective parliaments in Holyrood and Stormont and hope to be able to share more information on this in the next edition. We also wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank to the Co-op, for their continuing support of our mass participation events in 2022.
