Crossed Grain February 2020
2 | SUPPORTER NEWS Coeliac UK’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) It will come as no surprise that our plans for a face to face AGM meeting have changed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the Charity Commission has confirmed that we are able to host a virtual AGM at 10am on Saturday 20 June 2020. Our AGM is an opportunity for Coeliac UK to connect with our membership community, reflect on the success and challenges of the previous year and share our ambitious plans for the year ahead. If you are a member of Coeliac UK, we invite you to join us via video/phone conference, from the comfort of your own homes. This will be a first for Coeliac UK and we would love for you to be part of it. Please register to join at www.coeliac.org.uk/2020AGM , and we’ll send you the video link and dial in details in the coming weeks. Members who are unable to join us will still have the option of registering their vote by proxy. The notice included with our magazine details all the resolutions for voting this year. You will need to return your proxy vote to our Coeliac UK office by 10am on Thursday 18 June 2020. This year’s Research Conference, bringing together speakers from across the globe, was entitled ‘Coeliac disease; from potential to refractory and everything in between’. Sadly, we had to cancel the event due to the coronavirus pandemic, but we were determined not to be beaten and found a solution to share most of the content digitally. With the support of the speakers, we have recorded their presentations and made them available to watch online, to ensure the very latest research reaches our gluten free community, healthcare professionals and the wider research network. Visit www.coeliac.org.uk/RC2020 to watch their presentations and learn more. RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2020 “Thank you so much for the advice, it’s been invaluable.” Heather Grimmer “Thank you for your encouraging and supportive messages.” Aileen Fraser “Thank you for all that your staff are doing to encourage us. I live on my own and was diagnosed with coeliac disease in 1957. Thanks to that, I shall reach 90 later this year!” Joan Call We love hearing from you.
