Crossed Grain

SUPPORTER NEWS | 3 In April this year 8-year-old Raine, took on the demanding 1,085 metre trek to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to raise funds to raise funds for Coeliac UK, alongside her parents and grandparents. The climb took a gruelling 7 hours and 45 minutes and Raine raised an amazing £1,173 to support those who need to live gluten free. Last year Raine was diagnosed with coeliac disease, she was not entirely unaware of the restrictions of a gluten free diet as her nana has been living with the condition for many years. Ella Gough, Raine’s mum said “We decided to raise money for Coeliac UK because we understand just how difficult it is to live with coeliac disease. Awareness of the condition is important and we feel Coeliac UK do a great job at getting information out there and being a voice for all those having to live without gluten. For anyone to receive this diagnosis is hard, but for an 8-year-old who loves lemon cake it’s even harder! Despite having the odd moment she has taken the news incredibly well and changed her diet accordingly.” Thank you Raine for your fantastic support raising funds to help others, what an amazing achievement! This network gives you access to a list of reputable solicitors in your local area, to make it easier for you to tailor your Will to your needs. Joyce from Hartlepool recently used the service to update her Will and was pleased to share her positive experience with us: “I was studying for a degree in 2004 when I started to suffer with really bad stomach pains and cramps. I had been diagnosed 10 years earlier with IBS but my symptoms had gradually got worse. I saw a different GP who recommended a blood test, and when the results came back, an endoscopy confirmed that I had coeliac disease. I had no idea what it was! I turned to Coeliac UK who were incredibly helpful. I have been supporting them ever since, but when I read about their Free Wills offer it came just at the right time. My husband and I were planning to update our Wills but wanted to change solicitors. We were sent a list of firms in our area, and we contacted one of these that I’d heard good things about. Claire, our new solicitor, made the process very straightforward and we were delighted to leave a gift in our new Wills to Coeliac UK. They have supported me so much over the years and our gift will help them to carry on helping other people like me!” Leaving a lasting impact Raine and her nana at the top of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Thank you Joyce, your support will mean we can continue to help those who need it.
