As manufacturing and industry starts getting back to an increased level of normality, the service is designed to support customers as they restart their process cooling systems. Many companies stopped their systems completely when the UK went into lockdown back in March and components such as seals and bearings can become problematic when equipment has lain idle. Equally, some businesses changed their production capacity during this period. For those scaling back production - or in the case of key sector manufacturers ramping up – their cooling systems will now need re-balancing to ensure they work to optimal eƒciency and e ectiveness for this new post COVID-19 stage. Aqua says the package can be tailored to the individual needs of the customer, depending on the process and equipment involved. An engineer will come to site, check the equipment, and ensure its restarted or recommissioned correctly. In addition, having a refrigeration specialist on hand to give additional technical oversight gives peace of mind whilst things restart and get back to normal. Aqua engineers are also able to support businesses with their on- site air conditioning. Ventilation's crucial role A leading ventilation specialist has urged businesses to consider the role that ventilation can play in maximising the health and safety of employees as they return to work. Alan Macklin, pictured , Technical Director at Elta Group and Chairman of the Fan Manufacturer’s Association (FMA), has drawn attention to the critical role that ventilation will play as the UK begins transitioning out of lockdown. With many workspaces having been unoccupied for a prolonged period of time, guidance has been issued by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) on how to optimise ventilation as buildings reopen . Recommendations include to purge ventilate for two hours before and after occupancy, and to maintain trickle ventilation even when the building is not occupied i.e. overnight. As many systems have been inactive for several months, a thorough and strategic approach must be adopted to ensure the health and safety of employees. Macklin said: “Following the devastating impact of the COVID-19 crisis, there must now be a focus on health and good IAQ in workspaces. By following the guidance on how to use ventilation systems e ectively after a period of inactivity, businesses can contribute to a healthier working environment for employees.” GEA Bock CO 2 Compressors gea.com/vap °Clever solved: minimized operating costs thanks to higher compressor efficiency Whether stationary or mobile application, GEA Bock CO 2 compressors o er you highly e cient solutions for low temperature, medium temperature, air conditioning and heat pumps – economical, sustainable, future-proof.
