CHANGING FACES 32 JONAS CAINO, GENERAL MANAGER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR, AIREDALE BY MODINE Modine has announced the appointment of Jonas Caino as both general manager and managing director of the newly- established Airedale by Modine global data centre cooling business unit. This appointment followed the retirement of Airedale’s managing director Tony Cole after 31 years with the company. Caino joined Airedale in 2019 to lead the data centre solutions team, moving into a senior commercial role before general manager. He will be based at Airedale’s UK headquarters in Leeds, with additional responsibility for production sites in Consett (UK), Guadalajara (Spain), Buena Vista (US) and Grenada (US. Caino has an extensive background in data centre technology and prior to joining Modine held various commercial roles spanning a 25-year career. He said: “This is an exciting time to be leading Airedale, and I am delighted to be appointed general manager. With exponential growth in the data centre industry and the strategic realignment of our production resources across the globe, we can focus our talents, minimise waste and maximise efficiencies to allow us to deliver more of the high quality, high-efficiency cooling solutions that are currently in demand, worldwide.” Eric McGinnis, vice president of Modine’s Building HVAC division, said: “Jonas brings deep experience and expertise to this role and is the right leader in supporting our growth strategy for our data centre business. In addition to having responsibility for our UK business, Jonas will also lead our global expansion of data centre products to the US and Western Europe. We are currently expanding our manufacturing capacity for chillers in the UK. We will fully utilise our plant in Guadalajara, Spain, for computer room cooling products, such as computer room air handlers and fan walls. We are also producing some of these products in the US, with plans to have full production capability in the next 12 to 18 months.” www.airedale.com ALEX THOMPSON, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, AERMEC Aermec has announced a further expansion to its UK sales team with the appointment of Alex Thompson as business development manager. The new role will see him work closely alongside the wider sales team but he will be primarily representing Aermec in the south west of England and in South Wales. David Evans, Aermec’s general sales manager, said: “We are pleased to welcome Alex into the Aermec family. He brings a wealth of HVAC experience and will play a key role in delivering sustained business value from our award- winning solutions and help drive our growing customer base.’’ Thompson has been in the HVAC industry for 24 years, having graduated as a mechanical engineer. He has held posts in R&D for nine years and over the last 15 years has been in technical sales with three leading air conditioning manufacturers and has multi-product experience. He has extensive experience supplying chillers, CRACs and AHUs to a wide range of industries and applications – from data centres and mission critical applications to critical cooling for hospitals as well as providing cooling solutions to meet the exacting requirements of large office projects. He said: “I have watched Aermec’s progress over a number of years and it is firmly established as an expert in delivering energy efficient solutions for a wide range of industries and applications including the data centre and mission critical industries.
