07 NEWS Laura Bishop elected Chair of GSHPA Laura Bishop has been elected to the position of Chair of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA), and Edward Thompson has been elected as Vice-Chair. Laura and Edward succeed Bean Beanland and Chris Davidson, who stand down following the standard period of two years in o€ce. Bean moves on to work with the newly formed Heat Pump Federation and will remain actively involved with the GSHPA as a non-voting representative on the GSHPA Council. Chris remains as the Chair of the GSHPA’s Policy Development Committee. Laura is Director of Infinitas Design, a renewable energy engineering consultancy, is a chartered mechanical engineer and a qualified CIBSE Heat Network Consultant. Her career to date has included roles at E.ON (Connecting Energies & Sustainable Energy divisions), Babcock Intec and Rolls-Royce (Fuel Cell Systems). Edward Thompson is a director of ICAX which has developed the ideas that led to Interseasonal Heat Transfer, Thermal Banks and solar assisted ground source energy. WOLSELEY CLIMATE BACKS COOLING UNITED CLUB Wolseley Climate is supporting Danfoss with its Cooling United Club loyalty scheme to help contractors earn cashback. Danfoss launched the scheme last year to give refrigeration and air conditioning contractors the chance to earn cash through loyalty points when they purchase selected cooling products. Once 500 points have been collected, members receive a Cooling United Club VISA card, which converts the points into cashback. This appointment will enable Moody Direct to support Alfa Laval’s light industry customers with a range of both brazed and gasketed plate heat exchangers. “This appointment is part of our planned distribution expansion in the UK,” said Marcus Halliday, Energy Division Channel Manager at Alfa Laval. “Moody Direct are well known within the heat exchanger market and have established a strong reputation for technical excellence and customer support. PROJECT TACKLES ILLEGAL F-GAS SALES A Scottish company aims to spearhead a global bid to tackle the climate impact of black market greenhouse gases used in the refrigeration industry. Vistalworks has secured funding from the UK Government’s innovation agency to launch a research and development project with the ultimate aim of reducing up to 840,000 tonnes of CO 2 a year – equivalent to 100,000 homes’ energy use. It is planned that a software solution to help European enforcement agencies target the black market will be announced in time for the COP26 event in Glasgow next year.
