AWARDS Potato industry already gearing up for Harrogate double-date U PDATED categories and new sponsors will feature at the 2023 National Potato Industry Awards, which are due to be held in November next year. e third edition of the biannual awards is already attracting keen interest from throughout the potato industry, even though it is a year away. JD Cooling Ltd, which has been serving the fresh produce industry for more than 20 years, became the rst key sponsor of the event, and other new sponsors will be announced shortly. Many in the industry have already booked their tables - some as early as the week after the 2021 event! Organised by Potato Review’s publishing company, Warners Group Publications, the event aims to reward best practice throughout the potato industry, from growing, through storage and supply, right up to the supermarket shelves and consumers’ plates. With so many advances in agritech and machinery, as well as ongoing trials in everything from new varieties to trap crops and continual research breakthroughs, there will be much to celebrate in 2023. As with the previous events in 2021 and 2019, the event will be held on the rst night of the British Potato (BP) show in Harrogate and the venue will again be the Old Swan, Harrogate, so those visiting or exhibiting at BP will be able to plan their diary accordingly and attend the awards at the same time. Comedian Rod Woodward, who was a huge hit with those who attended the 2021 awards, will be returning as guest speaker, and e British Potato Industry Award, originally inagurated by the British Potato Council and subsequently by the Potato sector of AHDB, will now be awarded alongside the other categories at the biannual event, organised by Potato Review.
