8 MODERN BUILDING SERVICES NOVEMBER 2021 INDUSTRY NEWS A new Skills Bootcamp, part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guar- antee and Plan for Jobs, is being launched at South Devon College next month. Following on from the popular Skills Bootcamp in Digital, this new Bootcamp is aimed at anyone interested in a career in the engineering construction industry. The flexible course of up to four weeks gives people the opportunity to build up sector specific skills and fast track them to an interview with a local employer. The programme at South Devon College has been developed in partnership withWillmott Dixon, Midas, BAM Nutall and Keir Construc- tion. Key elements of the course include renewable energy technology, water treatment, digital construction and commercial management. Participants on the course will benefit from continuous formative assessment for two weeks with one of the four employers through employer hubs. Having worked in the commercial heating sector for over six years, she has a wealth of industry knowledge and experience with which to support and grow sales across the business. As National Sales Manager, Andreea will be developing ELCO’s UK sales strategy while raising awareness of the brand. She will be using her wealth of experience to identify potential commercial opportunities, as well as deliver maximum productivity and profitability. Her remit also includes creating and strengthening relationships with specifiers and consultants throughout the commercial plumbing and heating sectors, which will be complemented by ELCO’s extensive CIBSE-approved CPD programme. IOR President Elect election result announced Graeme Fox has been announced as the new IOR President-Elect during the IORAnnual General Meetingwhich took place in London on 4November. Over the next year, the President-Elect will assist the current IOR President in his duties andwill take over as the IOR President inNovember 2022. Graeme has been active in the IOR both as aTrustee and helping to promote air conditioning and heat pumps, workingwith the Beyond Refrigeration environment group, providing information and advice on F Gas Regulations for our RACHP EngineeringTechnician Section and giving talks tomembers. Ian Fisher and CatarinaMarqueswere also elected as the two new trustees on the IORBoard Ian Fisher is a long-termmember of the IOR’s RACHP Engineering Technician Section helping to produce practical bulletins particularly with an air conditioning and heat pump focus and giving talks at colleges. He is also an experienced STEM ambassador with schools. Catarina who works at London South Bank University has been active in IOR’s SIRACH research network and itsWomen in RACHP group for many years as well as the membership and papers and publications committees. She has given several technical talks and recently won the Kenneth Lightfoot Medal for her work on heat networks.
