WHAT’S NEW A guide to new products and services for MBS readers. MBS Carrier Introduces XCT7, its Latest Generation of VRF Systems Carriermarks a newmilestone in Europewith the launch of XCT7, the latest generation of Carrier Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology. The XCT7 systems provide unmatched advantages for customers, including improved reliability, enhanced systemperformance, high efficiency, a large operating range, easy installation and incredible flexibility. The systems can be customized tomeet the specific demands of most projects. Up to four outdoor units can be combined to reach 104 horsepower with up to 64 indoor units per outdoor system. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a leading global provider of healthy, safe and sustainable building and cold chain solutions. Reliability and performance are at the heart of XCT7, providing customers with total peace of mind. This is due to the combination of advanced features including: an outdoor condenser with black-coated fin technology for enhanced corrosion resistance; anti-liquid shock protection for the compressor to reduce liquid shock failure rate; improved refrigerant distribution balance due to the centrifugal oil separator; and smooth supply of lubricant due to the 10-stage oil return technology. State-of the-art officedevelopment benefits fromELCOboilers Six TRIGON® XL boilers from ELCO are providing the office tenants of 7 & 8Wellington Place in Leeds, with highly efficient and reliable heating and hot water. Home to the Leeds Government Hub, the new 378,000 sq. ft. commercial development is the biggest ever office pre-let in the area and is expected to bring over 6,000 civil servants to the city centre. Developed by MEPC on behalf of the joint venture between Hermes Investment Management and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), the buildings offer grade A office accommodation with an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating. Three 500kWELCO TRIGON® XL floor standing condensing gas boilers were specified and installed in a roof top plant room. The whole process was undertaken and managed by construction, development and property services specialistsWates Group. www.elco.co.uk Hoval launches second generation UltraGas Hoval has launched UltraGas® 2, the latest generation of gas condensing boilers, which brings even higher efficiency to the popular features of the first UltraGas® generation. UltraGas® 2 models are available with output ratings from 125kW to 1550kW (250kW to 3,100kWas a double boiler), and in 10 bar versions for 720, 1100 and 1550kw units. UltraGas® 2 boilers are designed for easy integration with existing systems and have the ability to work with any flow/return temperature difference (Delta T) for optimum flexibility. With a maximum operating temperature of 95Deg.C they are ideal for use in district heating/heat networks applications, and can in future will also be able to operate on biomethane and hydrogen. At the heart of the new design is the patented Hoval TurboFer® heat exchanger, which combines a unique design with special injection technology to generate turbulence on the heating gas side. This increases heat transfer and boosts efficiency by as much as 20% Ease of installation has been a key element in the design, so there is no need for system components such as a circulating pump or hydraulic separator. The amount of pipework in the TurboFer® heat exchangers has also been reduced to minimise weight, resulting in a lightweight, compact design. For example, models up to 450kW are less than 800mm wide and will fit though a standard door. www.hoval.co.uk Viega Previstameets the latest Water Regulation guidance Viega Prevista WC suites now comply with the Regulation 4 of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations of 1999 and have achieved certifications with WRAS and KIWA (KUKreg4). To address industry concerns about potential backflow from WC cisterns into the mains supply, WRAS and KIWA have updated their acceptance criteria for approval of WC suites. Evidence suggests that in some cases existing backflow protections could be compromised and are allowing ‘blue water’ stored in WC cisterns to enter into the mains supply via the filling valve. The revised requirements are that a Type AG filling valve be installed inside the cistern to allow for a physical “air gap” between the lowest point of the water outlet and the critical water level. www.prevista.viega.com/gl_en 28 MODERN BUILDING SERVICES MAY 2021
