MODERN BUILDING SERVICES MARCH 2023 33 WHAT’S NEW A guide to new products and services for MBS readers Swegon strengthensWaterloo rangewith enhanced product choice &digital tools Swegon is bringing together all the group’s room unit brands of Waterloo, NACO and Air Diffusion under one brand identity “Waterloo by Swegon” to reflect its position as the UK’s largest manufacturer of air terminal devices. Since the acquisition of Waterloo in 2020, the HVAC group have been work- ing on full integration and settling the combined business into the new ‘Vantage Point’ factory in Kent. This is consistent with the Swegon group’s philosophy of investing in local manufacturing to service its key markets and strengthening well-known brands under the group umbrella while also bringing in expertise and innovations from across global operations. Local product choice The Waterloo by Swegon range will provide the product width, flexibility and choice that meets the specific needs of the UK market. To support this there will be further investment in technical innovation, sustainability, and digitalisation initiatives. Daniel Jones, UK&I Room Unit Product Manager, said: “Our customers will have access to more great products, but with added benefits like Environmental Product Declarations, BIM and cloud selection tools designed to make their lives easier.” Andrew Collard, UK&I Business Unit Director, added “The new brand is an opportunity for our customers to benefit from our extensive technical expertise and the prod- uct selection flexibility afforded by such a wide range. The consolidation of Swegon’s room unit product portfolio is a natural fit and creates exciting opportunities for the business and our customers.” www.swegon.com/UK Kingspan launches Pipe Insulation Carbon Calculator Kingspan Technical Insulation has introduced a new carbon calculator, helping consultants to understand how pipe insulation specifications can impact whole life carbon emissions and operating costs associat- ed with heat losses from pipework systems. The Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation Carbon Calculator covers a range of system designs, pipe materials and diameters and operating parameters. Pipe insulation thicknesses can be easily set using the relevant tables within BS 5422 or enhanced thicknesses, revealing how changes to the insulation will affect expected system heat loss- es, the cost of these losses and the capital cost of the insulation. This powerful tool can help consultants to make more informed decisions about pipe insulation specification, and understand how choices may impact the payback period for the insulation, both in terms of cost and carbon emissions. pipecarboncalculator@kingspan.com Ideal Heating launches heat pump range for commercial buildings Ideal Heating, has launched a new range of monobloc air source heat pumps to help improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on natural gas within commercial buildings. Available in six outputs and seven models (14kW, 14kW (single phase), 18kW, 26kW, 32kW, 50kW and 70kW), the ECOMOD range provides a minimum A++ Energy related Products (ErP) efficiency rating and high co-efficient of performance (COP) rating of up to 4.85. R32 refrigerant ensures a low global warming potential (GWP). The heat pumps also include an inverter-controlled compressor that can control the building temperature based on specific requirements of the space, further enhancing the efficiency of a building. www.idealcommercialboilers.com/products/ecomod
