MODERN BUILDING SERVICES MARCH 2021 37 Date Centre in safe hands with PLX Fuel Transfer System When tasked with specifying the fuel transfer pipework system for a Spanish data centre’s emergency back-up power generator, Tavicce once again turned to the PLX system from Aliaxis, due to its long design life and reliability. During the construction of a new data processing centre in Madrid, Tavicce, the PLX distribution partner in Spain, was tasked with specifying the fuel pipework system. The system is designed specifically for fuel transfer applications, being suitable for use with leaded and unleaded petroleum, diesel, bio-diesel and fuel oils. Coolingsector Mitsubishi Electric has launched a new range of close coupled precision air conditioning models, designed specifically for business-critical I.T. environments. The new Multi Density system comes complete with a three-year warranty and is ideal for situations where high sensible cooling and close control of temperature in high- density applications, such as data centres, is essential. Unique to the I.T. cooling sector, the Multi Density system connects Close Coupled indoor units directly to an advanced VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) outdoor unit. Up to eight indoor units can be connected on a single system, offering an operating range of 12.5kW to 50kWper solution. The R410A system is ideal for high density racks and blade server cooling in data centres. It is able to cope with the increased thermal load of high-density racks, and thanks to the small footprint, the in- row and in-rack CRAC units can be placed directly within the racks to cool the localised hot spots. Further details on the system can be found on the company’s website https://les.mitsubishielectric.co.uk https://thinkitcooling.co.uk/home WHAT’S NEW A guide to new products and services for MBS readers. MBS New Product Launch: PORTAFLOW - PF333/PF222 ANewMicronics, PORTAFLOWrangewith the latest ultrasonic flow measurement technology and Hydronic Liquid FlowEnergyMeasurement and a comprehensive data logging facility for the PF333 version. The PORTAFLOWPF333 offers the user quick and accurate flow and energy measurement and with its easy-to-follow menu and simple set up, results can be achieved within minutes of opening the case! It’s a portable, simple to use ultrasonic clamp-on flow and thermal, heat/energy meter, that uses the latest cross correlation ultrasound flow measurement system to measure flow rate and clamp-on PT100 temperature sensors to measure flow and return temperatures. It measures energy rate and totalised energy and the Hydronic thermal energy, heat or cooling load is calculated from a combination of the flow rate and the flow and return temperature difference or delta T to comply with EN1434 section 6. The integral Data Logging has a capacity of 100,000,000 data points with 12 named sites and can be downloaded via USB to CSV files and export to Excel for further analysis. Compact, rugged and reliable, the PORTAFLOW range has been designed to provide sustained performance in industrial environments with the New cross correlation flow measurement system providing improved accuracy for flow and measurement audits of old and often challenging pipe-work in existing installations. The addition to the renowned Lossnay range is designed specifically for the UK housing market and makes energy efficient, super-quiet ventilation accessible to even more homes. It’s designed to extract stale air continuously and efficiently from spaces like bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, and utility rooms where air can become polluted with high humidity, fumes and chemicals. A built-in LCD controller allows for easy control and commissioning of the unit, and offers a clear display showing normal, boost, and purge modes. Up to four speed settings can be commissioned digitally to ensure constant and accurate settings. For more information go to: https://les.mitsubishielectric.co.uk/products/ventilation
