8 MODERN BUILDING SERVICES JANUARY 2022 INDUSTRY NEWS Defence Infrastructure Organisation completes £10m Royal Marines accommodation The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has recently completed the new circa £10m bespoke state-of-the-art accommodation project for personnel at the Royal Marines’ principal training centre in Devon. The new block will house Royal Marine recruits who have been injured in training. The new accommodation at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) in Lympstone consists of a 181-bed block as well as supporting facilities, such as a large communal/recreation area and administrative offices. The multifunction communal/recreation space has televisions, a projector and screen, kitchenette for drinks and IT provision. It can also be used as a classroomwhen required or for individual learning. The ground floor also has toilet and washing facilities for visitors to this area. The building, known as the Comacchio Building, was opened by Col. Simon Chapman, Commandant Commando Training Centre Royal Marines. Representatives from the Royal Marines, Defence Infrastructure Organisation and contractors Galliford Try and AECOM attended an event at Lympstone to mark the completion of this unique facility for the Royal Marines. Ecosesv Group diversifies with £3.5M Cooltech acquisition Ecoserv Group has completed the purchase of Cooltech Environmental Engineering Ltd in a £3.5 million deal. The acquisition of the Slough-based maintenance specialist is the first since Ecoserv rebranded fromEcocleen and announced its plans to become amulti-service facilitiesmanagement business. Cooltech provides mechanical, electrical, HVAC and water hygiene services to a wide range of premises and works withmany of the UK’s leading property managing agents. Launched in 1992, the company has a turnover of £7.5 million and is recognised as a leadingmaintenance partner within the FM marketplace. Cooltech’s 40-strong team, including a network of on-site and mobile engineers, supports 100 customer locations in and around the M25 in the commercial residential, office, retail and hospitality space.
