MODERN BUILDING SERVICES AUGUST 2022 27 FEATURE INSTALLERSHOW 2022 A record number of visitors flocked to the NEC to visit InstallerSHOW last month, for the UK’s largest gathering of professionals involved in the installation, specification, and implementation of net-zero products and services. J ust under 10,000 people attended the event – featuring the elemental content theatres – keen to talk to over 300 leading exhibitors and attend the comprehensive programme of seminars, debates, demos, and panel discussions. A truly great industry get-together Wewere excited to be exhibiting at this year’s InstallerSHOW. The show had a fantastic buzz about it from the moment the doors opened and this continued until they closed. It was a brilliant way for us tomeet upwith our existing contributors, partners, and friends whichwe have all found extremely challenging over the last couple of years, and towelcome to our stand somany passionate readers of our publications. The high number of visitors ensuredwewere always constantly busy at the stand and talking tomany soon-to-be new readers, contributors, and partners. Whenwewere able it was great to attend a discussion by one of the many knowledgeable and inspiring speakers or to stroll around other exhibitors’ amazing stands and learn about their products, services, and innovations. Oh, and I evenmeet Dion Dublin sowhat more could I ask for. What was on at the InstallerSHOW There were over 100 speakers sharing their knowledge with the audience during InstallerSHOW, including a keynote from environmental campaigner Jonathon Porritt, as well as plenty of opportunities to learn about how to tackle the key issues facing the industry when it comes to energy and heat, including hands-on demos of technologies including EV charging points and solar PV. Lord Callanan, the UK business & energy minister, addressed visitors to the showwith a video on the first day about the scale of the challenge we face on the route to net-zero, as well as highlighting the progress made so far including the Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund. The event included two content theatres run by BEAMA and BESA, featuring CPD-accredited seminars and discussions for built environment professionals covering everything from hi-tech housing to indoor air quality. Elsewhere at the show, content highlights included a debate on how the trades can become more inclusive, panel discussions on community energy options for local authorities, a showcase of the Energy Superhub Oxford project, and a debate on how to hit heat pump targets. Visitors could also discover the latest green technology, with demos from a host of extensively vetted suppliers who can offer genuine, market-leading sustainable technology to help in the design, construction, maintenance, and use of buildings.
