CH&CO works in partnership with its schools and their pupils to spread the message and reduce the environmental impact we all have. They have attacked plastics and packaging, eliminating single use in the schools they serve. Now, they are focused on the food they prepare and eat. The provenance, preparation, waste and compilation of menus are all important areas that CH&CO is addressing with the pupils. 100 percent plant days, vegan meals and zero food waste are all ongoing projects. Through initiatives such as the use of fruit and vegetable parts that were traditionally placed in bins, they reduce the impact on landfills and reliance on meat. “CH&CO have been the school’s caterers since 2015. Over this time, a very strong relationship has developed. This relationship is based on their understanding of what makes our school tick, and on catering in the right way for our various constituents: boys, staff and parents. In a boarding school community this is very important. Good, wholesome and tasty food also helps”! Simon Burrows, Papplewick A committed team The CH&CO team is passionate and focused, delivering tangible results for their schools, demonstrating the value of the partnership and their decision to choose CH&CO independent. Their catering teams are supported, trained and nurtured through an extensive support structure to ensure they deliver exceptional good food and service. Starting in September 2021, health and wellness initiatives were launched throughout all CH&CO schools because they know how difficult the last 18 months have been for many people and they wanted to continue to emphasise the importance of mental wellbeing. They are taking time to sit down with teams over a cup of tea or coffee. It is never as simple as saying ‘how are you?’ and assuming the ‘fine’ response means fine. CH&CO therefore has the support in place to address mental wellness issues within their teams and hope this initiative will enable employees to feel valued and appreciated. CH&CO would like to start working towards the creation of a food service that works for you and your school, so for more information contact: Andrew Scott at andrew.scott@chandcogroup.com 07917 601 545 Or Halcyon Day at halcyon.day@chandcogroup.com 01730 897 071
