Bursars Review | Autumn 2018 | Sample

At the beginning of September, ISBA launched its brand new reference library, developed in conjunction with the SDS Group. ISBA reference library Logging into ISBA’s reference library as normal, members will now see a new ‘dashboard’ with options to view the reference library itself, publications (including the Bursar’s Review, Bursar’s Guide, Impact Report and ISBA’s monthly bulletins) and the association’s minutes and reports. The association has taken members’ feedback on board and developed an improved search function which returns specific, and far more accurate results. Documents have also been re-categorised to separate compliance policies from guidance notes, web links and the health and safety guide. Welsh schools will also benefit from a dedicated section in the library offering bespoke template documentation and this will be added to over the coming months. A Scottish section is in production and will be included when complete. Customise your library The new library will benefit from other enhancements throughout the coming weeks including a screen responsive interface (so that the site dynamically fits the pc screen/ resolution being used) and also a customisable ‘my Bursar’s Library’ feature, which means members will be able to choose what they see on the dashboard when they log in. The library offers more than 350 template policies and guidance notes, which have all been carefully reviewed and updated. There is an option to view an archive allowing for searches of a further 230 entries. ISBA TV has now also been added to the library, meaning members can watch a variety of sessions held by expert speakers at the association’s professional development events over the years. Document updates Members are encouraged to visit the library frequently to benefit fully from all it has to offer. Documents within it are regularly reviewed and template regulatory policies produced by ISBA are carefully maintained, continuing to be updated upon key legislative and/or regulatory changes. These will show in ‘recently updated documents’. A side bar will also show recent viewing activity – particularly useful if you need to quickly revisit a document. Tracked changes are visible on all updated entries in the library and can be viewed by clicking the previous version in the ‘Revisions’ tab and then ‘show changes’ in the web page. Members will continue to be alerted to all reference library updates in ISBA’s new monthly bulletin. The library hosts a wealth of information designed to help support bursars and their teams, and the association hopes members find these improvements make it much easier to navigate.
