HEADLINE PARTNER 54 buildings, historic royal palaces and security sensitive establishments. His independent school client list includes Tonbridge School, Sevenoaks School, Claire’s Court School and the Royal Grammar School amongst many others. When away from his laptop, Paul likes to keep fit either on his mountain bike, or running with his training partner, Poppy, his dog – he hasn’t caught her yet! JENNY HOWARD – associate Jenny has been with the business for seven years and is responsible for marketing and business development at Synergy. She has more than one string to her bow though, as she also has a civil engineering degree and was a structural engineer for six years before venturing into the exciting world of marketing and business development. When she is not tweeting or researching the internet for the very best ISBA giveaway, she is a chair of governors for her local primary school as well as an enthusiastic tennis student. STUART HAWKES – partner Stuart Hawkes leads Synergy’s building surveying team but also doubles up as project manager on many of his projects. He is a highly skilled chartered surveyor with more than 35 years in the industry. Some of his recent key projects include the construction of rifle range facilities at Sevenoaks School, the alteration and extension of the facilities at Town Close School, the new sports pavilion at Framlingham College, the brand new sports centre at Kingham Hill School as well as masterplanning advice for both Salisbury Cathedral School and Wisbech Grammar School. He has also provided planned preventive maintenance surveys at numerous schools including St Swithun’s School and Bradfield College. At the weekends, Stuart is usually found on the golf course although, given the amount he plays, his handicap remains a challenge (come and ask him why!). Stuart is also a food connoisseur so if you can’t find him at the Synergy stand you may well find him at one of the catering stands! DUNCAN BALL – partner Duncan is a chartered quantity surveyor and leads Synergy’s Bath office. He has 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. In addition to experience in the education sector he has gained vast experience in the conservation, restoration and refurbishment of historic buildings, ranging from cathedrals, country houses and town houses to humble cottages. Duncan also lectures on costs and contracts for the Master of Science degree course in the conservation of historic buildings at Bath University and also to the delegates on the RICS Conservation Summer School. When Duncan is not at the office you will often find him in his local scout hall where he is a scout leader and currently acting as group scout leader.
