Ian Yorston Ian Yorston is, after some 26 years, the retiring director of digital strategy at Radley College in the UK. He has acquired a reputation as something of a ‘guru’ in the education sector and now lectures around the world. He aims to encourage change in a sector that is often unhelpfully conservative. He is a past chair of the Independent Schools Council Digital Strategy committee and also sits on their Child Welfare group. For 10 years he was a governor of OLA School, Abingdon where he chaired the marketing and communication committee. He spent many years as a school inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Prior to Radley he spent 10 years in the Royal Air Force including three years as an electronic warfare officer. This involved a lot of computers and a number of wars. He also spent a great deal of time working alongside Americans. This was a good thing. Ian is always interested in new ideas and new developments. He really appreciates hearing from friends. He is rather less interested in hearing from sales consultants though. Renowned for giving clear and professional advice supported by a sound commercial understanding of the business of international pupil migration, Mark has the ability to make what is a dry subject interesting. Tracey Young Tracey is a partner and head of education at haysmacintyre. She has been advising the charity and education sector for 18 years and now specialises in supporting independent schools and academies. She advises a broad range of clients in the education sector on all aspects of the employment relationship and on a range of other issues facing schools. She regularly helps schools deal with performance management issues, ill health, restructuring, employment tribunal cases and advises on sensitive and complex issues including senior severances. Emilie prides herself on providing solutions to her clients’ problems, tailored always to the needs and aims of the school. Emilie is immersed in the education sector, speaking at national and regional events on education and employment matters and regularly delivers in-house training for schools. She has written in national publications for independent schools including Independent Education Today and the ISBA Bursar’s Review. Emilie has experience as a school governor, and in 2016 undertook a secondment to cover the role of principal legal counsel at the Independent Schools Council.
