Bursar’s Review ISBA Annual Conference 2019

NCSC senior speaker KEYNOTE ADDRESS 16 The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) was set up to help protect our critical services from cyber-attacks, manage major incidents and improve the underlying security of the UK internet through technological improvement and advice to citizens and organisations. Its vision is to help make the UK the safest place to live and do business online. The NCSC supports the most critical organisations in the UK, the wider public sector, industry and SMEs. When incidents do occur, the NCSC provides effective incident response to minimise harm to the UK, help with recovery, and learn lessons for the future. ISBA protects its members This keynote session at conference follows a series of actions ISBA has taken this year to support members in the area of cyber security. In March, the association held a popular IT and cyber security conference, with a further programme of events focused on the subject to come later in the year. Readers will also remember the Spring 2019 issue of the Bursar’s Review, which offered a dedicated eight-page supplement focusing on the cyber security concerns affecting independent schools and featuring valuable tips and advice from professional advisers working in the sector. The issue also included a brand new chapter for ISBA’s publication ‘The Bursar’s Guide’ outlining the practical steps that schools can take to protect themselves. If you need a further copy of this chapter please contact the ISBA office by email: office@theisba.org.uk The association is always grateful to receive notification of any cyber attacks affecting its members. Details will always be anonymised but in sharing alerts we can help to minimise such incidents. www.theisba.org.uk
