NEWS 08 TF SOLUTIONS JOINS REFCOM ELITE TF Solutions has become the latest addition to the REFCOM Elite Supplier scheme. The refrigeration and air conditioning distributor is the latest supplier to be audited and accredited in line with REFCOM’s ambition to encourage all parts of the supply chain to voluntarily commit to the highest professional standards. TF Solutions Commercial Director Andy Reed said: “We have always focused on providing our customers with the best service, so we felt that it was only right that we, as a leading national wholesaler, should participate and uphold the highest values and standards. Supporting the F-Gas Regulation will be vital if the industry is to achieve its environmental and climate change goals and REFCOM’s Elite programme is playing a crucial role.” Volume 6 No.5 August | September 2020 Isentra’s CO 2 mission for refrigeration A refrigeration consultant has launched a new company aimed at helping the world to adopt CO 2 as a sustainable refrigerant. Daniel Clark has been in the industry since 1999, working as a consultant for clients including Home Bargains, Brakes and Booths Supermarkets. He developed a passion for CO 2 as a refrigerant and was an early adopter of the technology. He has now launched Isentra, which manufactures CO 2 refrigeration and heat pump plant machinery for the commercial and industrial sectors. He said: “CO 2 refrigeration is rapidly becoming the leading cooling technology across a variety of applications in a wide number of sectors. CO 2 systems deliver exceptional cooling performance at low cost, while also being very attractive from a sustainability perspective with an ultra-low global warming potential. “Basically, we’re on a mission to fill the need for better refrigeration that frees customers from the risk of ever-changing legislation, that is energy-eŒcient, sustainable and future proof.” Isentra recently reported how it has helped foodservice wholesaler Brakes to reach a new milestone in its goal to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2025. Brakes revealed its latest figures in June 2020, showing its overall emissions dropped by a further 3% in 2019 to 27%. The savings were due to a combination of reductions in fuel consumption, reduction of use of gas for boilers and heating and more eŒcient lighting, but the company attributed the biggest impact to a new CO2 refrigeration system from Isentra. Alex Mayfield, Supply Chain and Operations Director at Brakes UK, said: “The new equipment at Thetford has worked brilliantly to reduce our carbon usage and we’ve been able to save around 75 tonnes of carbon. Brakes has used natural refrigerants in its larger distribution centres for many years, but until recently it has not been technically possible to scale such solutions down for smaller regional operations.'' www.isentra.net Daniel Clark of Isentra Take control with iSmart iACS claims to have developed the most versatile AHU control solution available with its iSmart system. Managing Director Stefano Lanzani said: “Having worked with manufacturers for the last 20 years, we have managed to design a standard controls solution for AHUs. The flexible software we’ve built, along with the intelligent use of BMS protocol and the latest in HVAC controls technology, make this what we believe to be the most versatile control system on the market.” Based in London, iACS started in 2011 as a distributor for CAREL and Belimo parts. Having worked previously for CAREL, Lanzani says he saw the opportunity for developing a standard AHU control system. Technical Director Adam Penfold, who previously worked for a large AHU manufacturer, added: “I’ve seen first-hand the savings which a standard control system can o¡er, not just in money but in days on site, time spent designing the wiring diagrams and writing out bespoke software.“ www.i-acs.co.uk
