www.potatoreview.com POTATO REVIEW SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2019 33 EVENTS Hands-on experience offered at shows Ten sprayer manufacturers put some of the latest machines available to UK operators through their paces at The CropTec Show when the event returned to Peterborough, the biggest line-up of sprayers to feature in CropTec’s sprayer demonstration area, sponsored by Syngenta. The area offered an opportunity for visitors to get up close to the machines to check out key features. Visitors were able to test drive the sprayers on a one-to-one basis under realistic operating conditions, to compare and contrast some of the most up-to- date machines on the market. Experts from participating manufacturers shared their expertise. Andy Carse, Managing Director of Agrifac, said: “The demonstration area at CropTec adds a fantastic element to the show. Instead of visitors taking away leaflets and brochures on the machines, it allows them to discover the differences from inside the cab, and get to grips with the technology and features on offer.” The Spraying Technology Hub also focused on research to extend the utilisation of 90% drift reduction nozzle technology beyond pre- emergence applications. Looking at future technology for application, including advice apps and sprayer innovation such as pulse width modulation (PWM), for example, the Application Hub also updated growers and operators on latest developments. A range of new machinery developments were also on show at CropTec this year, including several new pieces of kit designed to help improve control of troublesome weeds. Turn to our Machinery focus for full details on the sprayers and herbicide applicators featured at the event. More new tractors and spraying kit, as well as a range of novel digital technology, were scheduled to make their debut at LAMMA which returned to the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, on January 7th and 8th. We’ll cover the launches and more details from the show in our March issue or Potato Review. For full details of future events, visit the Potato Review website at www.potatoreview.com .
